Michael Kohn's question
My question is why did El Gato just win the world cup and then just quit? I mean he is a pro and probably has a lot of money still on his contract and he wants to blow it of by just quitting. He could be a world famous soccer player and still play for many more years to come and at the end be really happy and live after that a normal life. He still has a lot of time to live and he really doesn’t need to spend the next 60 years of his life in the forest. He could wait 5 years and then go to the forest and live happy. my question is does the book want use to picture El gato as a bad choice maker or does he want us to feel that he owes his life to the forest which he grew up in. I think at this point El Gato has lost his mind in a sence that the forest help him learn how to be a goalie but if the forest wanted him to be a goalie then why doesn't he do it for the rest of hi life. I think he could have been a little wiser on his decision making.

The reason that El Gato quit was because he said that he accomplished everything that he set out to do. He won all the accolades, including bringing the world cup back to his team. He also planned and talked about this, including making reasons for his retirement. I think that he wants us to think that he owes his life to the forest and he is also willing to go through with it too. I don’t think that his decision making was off at all. I think that the forest wanted him to be great so his hometown would finally win the World Cup. As you read, at the end, the forest fills back up with life after he wins the World Cup. He can still teach others to be good players like the Keeper. He doesn’t need more personal glory to make himself feel better. I think that his mind is still intact.
