Rheanna's Question!!

Why do you think that some of the authors, for the books we have read this year, don't tell us the charectars real name (El Gato, Keeper, and Curley's wife)?
Have you ever been under as much pressure as Gato was when he was in the goal at the world cup? What was it?

Hadley's first prompt

Where do you think the Keeper came from? Is he a ghost, a real person, or kind of like a God? Do you think he was expecting El Gato to come to him to play soccer?

Blair's Question

When the Keeper brought the jaguar out of the forest, how did El Gato know which one represented himself? Do you think you are the jaguar or the deer? Why?

Ahmun's Question

My question is about when Gato was telling Faustino about his fathers death. It was a very tragic death and vey upsetting. Did he regret ever becoming a soccer star after his fathers death? Because if he wasnt a soccer star, there would be a good chance that his father might still be alive.

Parker Goldman's Question

Why did Gato want to watch the re-run of the World Cup game? Why did he want to watch just the parts where he was beaten?

Michael Kohn's question

My question is why did El Gato just win the world cup and then just quit? I mean he is a pro and probably has a lot of money still on his contract and he wants to blow it of by just quitting. He could be a world famous soccer player and still play for many more years to come and at the end be really happy and live after that a normal life. He still has a lot of time to live and he really doesn’t need to spend the next 60 years of his life in the forest. He could wait 5 years and then go to the forest and live happy. my question is does the book want use to picture El gato as a bad choice maker or does he want us to feel that he owes his life to the forest which he grew up in. I think at this point El Gato has lost his mind in a sence that the forest help him learn how to be a goalie but if the forest wanted him to be a goalie then why doesn't he do it for the rest of hi life. I think he could have been a little wiser on his decision making.

Zach's Question

My question is how you think El Gato becomes so famous and ends up winning the World Cup. He doesn’t seem in the position to play professional soccer?

Question for Anyone

My class is up to page 153 in the book.

Here is a question I'd like to ask.... From what we've learned so far in the book, who do you think the keeper is?

Zach's blog comment

The very first time I began to dream was when I was seven years old and visited my Uncle who is a well known Lawyer in New Orleans Louisiana. He showed me everything that you needed to become a lawyer and how to get it. He told me how I needed to think differently in order to be a good Lawyer and that you needed to think outside the box. Ever since then I have wanted to become a Lawyer.
People tend to dream of being forwards and leaders because all they want is the fame of being a forward and to be able to be the one that wins the game. There are dreams less glamorous but are the foundations of a great society. For example, doctors save lives everyday and they aren’t getting in the news and given awards. Cops and fireman keep the city safe so that people can live their everyday live without worrying about a fire or a robber. If none of these people and dreams existed there would be no
great societies in the world we live in.

Michael Kohn's responce to wheling Q's

There was a time when I was playing on my soccer team as a defense men and I always wanted to be the guy that went up and scored the goals. But later in soccer it really made me realize that all the players are equal even though when we stop the ball on a break away no one cheers but when people score goals, then it a party. (Also) I think the reason we all strive to be forward and not goalies in life is that we all want to be a hero and almost be famous. In life every one wants to be like a forward because it shows that you are a leader and that you have confidence in not only what you’re doing but in your self. But on the other side keepers are all alone and the symbolize importance and skill. I life you need skill to help you any where. Goalie tends to be keener and tend to see more and pick out things that normal people can’t see. A person like this might be good for a job or an editor at a newspaper company. But the ultimate goal in life is to be a leader and a glorified idol. I think that is why people strive to be forwards and not keeper in life.

Tyler Stratton's Question

On page 135, Larsson admitted that Hellman hired him to put El Gato on an emotional rollercoaster. When was a time when you were like this? (Also) Why do you think that El Gato's destiny was to play goalie and why was he so reluctant to go through rigorous training to play a sport that, at one time, he didn't even like?

First Question/Prompt---Wehling

At the beginning of the second chapter, El Gato explains that he “realized that world I had been living in was low.” When he quits playing soccer, he starts looking up, which is the real beginning of his ability to dream and hope. Describe a time when you remember starting to dream or hope of greatness.

(also)

Why do you think we tend to dream of being “forwards” instead of “goalies” in life? What are some dreams that are less glamorous but still necessary to a great society and a fulfilled life?
